Wayne Free has teamed up with the Kingdaddy band of Charlotte, NC for the release of his first single since the announcement of his solo career. “You’re My Girl” is the first collaborative effort between Wayne and Kingdaddy.
"You’re My Girl" was written by Kingdaddy musical director, David Shoff, and was engineered and produced by Kingdaddy co-founder and partner, Jake Hunter. This song features the classic Kingdaddy rhythm and horn sections, for which the group is well known. Kingdaddy is joined by the former front man of The Swingin’ Medallions and The Embers, Wayne Free. He delivers the Shoff composition in a vocal style that is all his own. The song is sure to become a classic among beach music fans, as well as rhythm and blues lovers of all ages.
“You’re My Girl” is included on the KHP Records compilation album entitled “Dancing Mood” which is scheduled for release in early September, 2014.
Tom Berger, co-founder of Kingdaddy, said, “The addition of Wayne Free to the formidable Kingdaddy lineup brings an entirely new dimension to the band. It is our hope that “You’re My Girl” will be well received and we are pleased to be chosen to appear on another KHP album.”
Wayne Free stated, “Kingdaddy has been performing in and around the Carolinas for years and has a proven reputation for great musicianship and writing. This is simply a great song and I could not resist the opportunity to work with Kingdaddy to record it. I look forward to working with KD in the future both in the studio and in live performances.”
“You’re My Girl” is available on iTunes, CD Baby and various media outlets!
